Bright Blessings

from OPHELIA album by Angeline Morrison

/

about

Bright Blessings is a blessing in the form of a song. It honours someone who shines very brightly, a radiant light, a wandering star on the earth. But also, this is someone whose chosen path differs from yours so absolutely that you find you must turn and walk in quite another direction. Your blessings follow them as they go, though, wherever they go.

lyrics

A gentle Spring wind tips the leaves,
Breathes on the blossom turning...
And you, my Love, must tread a path
Worn bare by sorrow's yearning,
Worn bare by sorrow's yearning.

A course you plotted, straight and true
Ten million stars ago, Love.
I'll bless your back as you walk through
A road I cannot go, Love.
A road I cannot go.

If all the birds were loving words,
Bright blessings in each feather,
I'd pray their wings to shelter you,
And keep you safe forever.
And keep you safe forever.

about

Angeline Morrison and The Ambassadors of Sorrow

"Bewitching and otherworldly... Morrison's voice is eerily confiding, strangely present, insistent even at its quietest" Folk Radio UK.

Believing in the beauty of sad songs, weaving folk, soul and beat sounds of the '60s into a tapestry of the human heart. Homespun sounds that reside in a nostalgic universe.

"Dark, unsettling folk that verges on the hymnal" BBC Introducing.
